The care of patients with skin tears can present a complex problem for healthcare professionals. Despite arguments that skin tears are more prevalent than pressure ulcers, to date there's still no universally accepted definition of a skin tear. This session evaluates the results of an international survey exploring clinical practice and beliefs pertaining to skin tears. A consensus document regarding the risk assessment, prevention and treatment of skin tears is presented, along with several case studies.
This webinar is based on the podium presentation at CSWC in Washington, D.C., taken from the Consensus Paper, Skin Tears: State of the Science, which appeared in September 2011 (Volume 24, Number 9S) Advances in Skin & Wound Care as a supplement. No registration required.
